Six Months - October 2008

Two weeks ago, we went to lunch with Peadat and Julio Broket originally from Columbia. We are trying to commit them to baptism, but they seem to enjoy our company more than wanting to get baptised. We will keep trying. They are very nice, but we surely have to listen carefully to understand them. Very strong Spanish accents.

Dinner with the missionaries assigned to our ward at our apartment. Notice the cute Holloween table cloth from my friend, Claudia.

A picture before the missionaries arrived.

This is Sister Eslyn Fredrick and the Elders who taught her. Elder Dalling was the one responsible for finding her for them to teach and he baptised her. For further details, go to our e-mail. The Elders are Elders May and Cronin. Elder May, on the right, went home two days later. What a great way to end a mission!

Elder Hatfield from Idaho. He comes home the same month we do! Great missionary! He helped teach the other Sister, Sister Hayes, that Elder Dalling baptised. Even though he did not find her, the Elders said he was already wet and so he was able to baptise two sisters.

Elder Dalling and Sister Fredrick before the baptism.

Elder May, Elder Cronin, Elder Dalling, Sister Fredrick, Sister Dalling, Brother and Sister Bean. They are the senior missionaries in the ward that Sister Fredrick is in.

Elder and Sister Dalling and Sister Fredrick at the "Finishers Fireside." That is a fireside for the departing missionaries who left the next day. The members and non-members they taught are invited to attend. The missionaries bare testimony and the President and Sister Hale speak.

The "Sisters Lucheon" was at the Hale's home and hosted by Sister Hale. It included all the senior sister missionaries and the young sisters. We had lunch, did a service project, and had a program with Prsident and Sister Hale speaking. Lots of fun and inspiration.

This picture is for Elder and Sister Lorenzo Griffeth, who are on a mission at Temple Square. Sister Neire, on the right, is from the Phillipines and on a two month transfer from Temple Square. She speaks beautiful English.

Sister Kynaston, Sister Dalling, Sister Call and Sister Smith. Sister Bean got sick and had to go home earlier. We are all almost exactly the same age.
Sister Hale taking pictures of the Sisters. The background is pictures of the missionaries in order of their departure date. We are on the second row from the bottom, right hand side. Moving up with six months behind us.
This is the service project we did. Popcorn to give to someone special we are working with or a gift to the Bishop of our ward. We each took three home!
AND THUS ENDS OCTOBER 2008!

Zone Conference and Grandchildren's Fridge Art

This is Zone Conference two weeks ago. It is one of four Zones. At Christmastime we are gong to have one Zone Conference Christmas dinner and program. That means there will be about 175 Elders and Sisters in attendance and with Stake and Mission leaders, about 200. It will be great to have everyone together. I am helping Sister Hale with planning the dinner. It feels like I am planning a ward banquet again.

Here is my latest Grandchildren's art work. Emma and Wyatt (Mark and Noelle's children) you do great coloring! Thank you for sending me the pictures. I love to get things from my Grandchildren! Love you all!

Love all the pictures!

Second Trip Florida Keys Sept 13, 08

We made a second trip to the Florida Keys, worked all day on upgrading the missionaries apartment, didn't even have time to get into the historic part of Key West but stopped on the way home at this place for a nice dinner. It was in a place called Marathon and was called the Key Fisheries. It was located right on the ocean, Atlantic side.

The dark behind us is the water. We are eating with the Kynastons. Fish speciality restaurant, so Elder Dalling ordered chicken. This picture was taken about 7:00 pm, gets dark sooner here.

If you look close you can see a couple of big fish swimming around a light in the water. The light was placed in the water right below where we are sitting.

This is what Elder Kynaston and Sister Dalling ordered "Hog Fish", really good!

Been hot all day working, Elder Dalling and Elder Kynaston forgot to put their ties back on.

A couple of Missionary eating sharks.

Nice catch by someone!

Elder and Sister Dalling after dinner. We still have a 5 hour drive back to our apartment in Ft. Lauderdale. We arrived home at about midnight. It was a fun, but hard working day!

Birthday Lunch with the Hales

President Hale treated us to lunch for Sister Rowe's birthday (78 years old) Wind is blowing the hair, I do comb my hair sometimes. Big hurricane (Gustof0) passed by us to the west. Weather was not extreme here, but a frond from a palm tree blew into one of our cars as the elders drove to church. The palm leaf broke out their front windshield. Palm fronds falling are big and can do damage to cars and people. We are now watching huricane Hanna which could come our way in a couple of days.

What a cute table cloth! Thank you Claudia. We love the table cloths Claudia sends us and it is fun to share them with our dinner guests! One for each season and month!

Sister Dalling taking a break at the office!

Elder Dalling and the office Elders working hard on getting 10 cars ready for a semi to pick them up. They sold them in Salt Lake. We should be getting 6 new Toyotas and a Caravan soon. One of these times I will get Elder Dalling to smile on camera!

We are all gald that the Hurricane did not do more damage in our area. We had winds of between 40 and 50 MPH and lots of rain, but not much damage. I have seen a lot worse storms in Idaho in the winter. The Keys got a lot of damage and up in northern Florida, the Orlanda Mission had lots of flodding. The missionaries went to shelters and helped. The Red Cross always loves to see our missionaries coming to help even if the storm didn't turn out as bad as predicted. It seems like there is always a hurricane in the Atlantic and we are watching one again. If you want to keep watching with us, go to the National Hurricane Center and there is a lot of information about all the incoming storms. It always looks like they are coming right for Florida, but then vere off to the Gulf or Atlantic.

We are enjoying the work and are working with another couple who we so hope will want to eventually be baptised. Everyone seems so happy to know about the gospel until they start talking to their families. Then they really have to decided if the chruch is true! Love you all, Elder and Sister Dalling

Kamri's Picture

We sure like hearing from our Grandkids, Thank you Kamri!

Sunday, August 3, 2008

Outside our apartment in the parking lot today, August 3,08

We both have bad colds so we look a little less than excited. We went to church because we had hopes of an investigator coming, but didn't happen. I guess we will try what Jory said to, "Call and offer to pick them up!

Sister Hale at the "Finishers Fireside" dinner at her home. How would you like to cook for 30 once a month and many times in between? She says she is used to entertaining and enjoys it, but I think this is a little overwhelming. She is 43.

President Hale taking pictures around the room! He is 47! The TV is brand new!

The group going home practicing a song for the fireside. They sang "Well Bring the World His Truth" in English and Spanish! It was beautiful!

This is a little lizard we are seeing much more of lately. Must be an August thing. It is like a Gecko, but does not lay as flat. They are basking on the sidewalks and run away as you walk by. They are suppose to eat bugs, but we have two living on our patio and they don't seems to be that hungry! Love 'um!
